DEFORD will release and mass-produce its sodium-ion starter batteries in April 2026.
After 9-12 months of proof-of-concept (POC) testing, DEFORD announced that it will begin mass production of its sodium-ion starting batteries in April 2026. This marks the successful launch of this revolutionary starting battery technology to the market after 15 months of internal testing and 9-12 months of POC testing.
Our POC program covers a few countries and regions, ensuring our customers can test our sodium-ion starting batteries in both high and low temperature environments. Throughout the POC testing process, the sodium-ion cells performed exceptionally well, operating stably under both high and low temperatures. We encountered battery compatibility issues with some vehicles, but we successfully resolved these problems by upgrading the battery BMS firmware.
If users need an eco-friendly, intelligent, and long-lasting vehicle starting battery, then sodium-ion starting batteries are definitely the best choice. Our sodium-ion starting batteries impressed our customers who participated in the POC testing, which solidified their commitment to working with DEFORD to launch sodium-ion starting batteries to market. Sodium-ion starter batteries are ideal for the following applications:
1. Vehicles equipped with start-stop functionality. Sodium-ion start-stop batteries have higher charging and discharging efficiency than AGM batteries; their lifespan is also 3-4 times that of AGM batteries. When a vehicle is equipped with a sodium-ion start-stop battery, users can confidently activate the vehicle's start-stop function for peace of mind, thereby effectively reducing fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
2. Vehicle modification, mainly referring to audio system upgrades or intelligent vehicle modifications. Modifying a vehicle increases the load on the starter battery and carries the risk of depleting it, leading to starting failure and battery damage. Our intelligent sodium-ion starter battery has an Emergency Start function, automatically locking sufficient capacity to start the vehicle.
3. Vehicles in cold winter regions. Vehicles parked outdoors in cold winter may be difficult to start. Our intelligent sodium-ion starting battery allows for preheating by configuring in the NaPALION App, ensuring the battery can still successfully start the vehicle in extremely cold environments.
DEFORD will begin mass production of 10 standard sodium-ion starting batteries and 5 sodium-ion starting batteries with built-in heating devices. These 15 sodium-ion starting batteries will cover 90% of vehicles on the market. We will utilize a cloud-based dynamic management system to comprehensively manage the complete lifecycle of the sodium-ion starting batteries, committed to realizing our business philosophy of creating long-term value for our customers.
